Every year, the Junior League of Austin, an organization of women committed to volunteerism, hosts A Christmas Affair, a four-day holiday celebration filled with events and a market that features more than 200 merchants from across the country. The Junior League uses the funds from A Christmas Affair to fund various community nonprofits, and Ballet Austin was invited to participate on Sunday, Nov. 18, a day focused on programming for children and families.

Ballet Austin Business Development Manager Boo Wong and Director of Development Christi Cuellar Lotz hosted a booth that showcased Ballet Austin’s Young Children’s Division, a program that introduces children to the joy of dance through imaginative stories, music and games, while providing developmentally focused movement experiences. (Learn more about the program at https://balletaustin.org/academy/school-year-programs/creativeballet). Those who stopped at the booth could enter a raffle to win a family package for Ballet Austin’s upcoming production of The Nutcracker. (See below for more details.)

Children loved interacting with one of Ballet Austin’s Butler Fellows, Eva Kahn, who dressed up in The Nutcracker French costume. While the children were mesmerized by the real life ballerina, adults had a chance to learn more about the dance training that Ballet Austin offers.
